Finally, our prayers have been answered. The Baguette is back with a big, loud bang. Whether rendered in denim with fluoro stitching or embellished up to its eyeballs in beading, these new Baguettes are not for the shy and retiring. Fashion girls everywhere have been snapping up second-hand versions but now that the brand is re-releasing them, there’s a chance to grab a box-fresh version all over again.

Tapping into that ’90s nostalgia for teeny tiny shoulder bags, Prada has created the ultimate option for a girl in 2019: the Sidonie. It comes in a vast range of colours and colourblocked options, with the primary brights looking particularly spectacular both on and off the runway. This style has started for cruise 2019 but continues on into the spring/summer collections, and I have a feeling it will become a collectors’ item of the future.

Featured on the spring 2019 runways and already filtering into stores, Chloé’s new bag, The Chloé, might be our favourite of the Parisian’s brands many It bags to date. Featuring a jumbo C on the front, this elegant new range includes flap-fronted messengers, shoulder bags and clutches in all of those sumptuous, earthy colours you’d associate with a catwalk full of #ChloéGirls.

Mulberry’s Hampstead bag, particularly in the mini size, has already become a favourite amongst influencers. It comes in an array of hues (Scandi girls are opting for pastels, Brits for more neutral tones), but it’s the versatile top-handle and crossbody bag— along with a statement drawstring—that’s also giving it extra points amongst the fashion set.
What’s better than one Chanel bag? Two. There are many magnificent new styles to choose from the spring/summer 2019 seaside-inspired collection, but we have a strong feeling this will be the street styler’s option of choice. The Side Packs are “carried in duo, crossing over each hip introducing a new way of being worn” reads the press release. They also featured handy little hooks for carrying your summer sandals during those moments where you simply have to go barefoot.

Following a huge comeback in 2018, it’s no wonder that Dior’s Saddle bag is arriving for the New Year in many new versions, as well as more of the classic styles you’ll know and love. From the instantly recognisable Oblique monogrammed shoulder bag to fresher styles in mini and midi sizes with jazzed-up, embellished straps, there’s a Saddle for all—if you’ve got the money to burn. J’Dior, indeed.
Could you be seeing this cute bucket bag on Meghan Markle sometime soon? We hope so. This new design from her favourite British brand, Givenchy, is a truly splendid alternative as an everyday shoulder or crossbody bag, but you can make it look more unusual by carrying it with the handle at the front of the bucket, á la the cruise 2019 lookbook pictured here. It comes in a range of sophisticated colourways that will work with any wardrobe—we can’t decide between green, burgundy, cream or black…
As seen on the runways and an elite selection of celebrities (such as Chloë Grace Moretz and Elle Fanning), Louis Vuitton’s curvy New Wave bag is now being constantly redesigned as part of the heritage brand’s The Icons collection. There are many colourways from the latest cruise 2019 drop, but I have to admit I’m a sucker for the really OTT printed and monogrammed versions, like the option below.
This past summer, Loewe saw a great deal of success with their jumbo, super-luxe, leather logo’d basket bags—no influencer holiday was complete without one. Creative director J.W.Anderson has wisely taken this popular style and developed on it even further for spring/summer 2019. You’ll find new versions with cool handle detailing (like the chain option above), alternative straw weaves and even a raffia take on the brand’s street style–adored Gate bag.
Miu Miu is known for its pleated matelassé leather finishes, but the velvet Confidential bag has to be the most touchy-feeling option to date. With gold hardware, it makes the coolest party option, but thanks to its casual crossbody style, it can be worn with the most low-key outfit too.
There are so many coveted styled in Gucci’s handbag famiglia that it can be hard to keep up. All the pieces that have been created under Alessandro Michele still stand up as worthwhile investment pieces, but if you’re looking for the latest and greatest, you need to know about the flap-and-logo-fronted Arli from the cruise 2019 show. It comes in a messenger style, a bowling silhouette and as a crossbody. Take your pick.
From the first Celine collection of new creative director, Hedi Slimane, comes a new and different era for the French brand’s accessories department. His designs are sturdier and fiercer. Take this already celebrity-endorsed C bag as a prime example of what we’re talking about.

As the brand buyers have been raving about (they all fell head-over-heels for the spring 2019 show), you’ll start to see the Paco Robanne more from here on out. Signature chainmail from the 1960s is being reworked for the modern age, and every cool girl is trying to get their hands on the silver or gold Iconic bags—a style that’s set to continue well into spring/summer 2019.

You might associate Marni’s bags with boxy structures and sharp lines, but there’s a new, more curvaceous style in town and we’re enjoying the switch up. Marni’s Earring bag is a sleek, compact hobo shoulder bag with a fun zip that snakes down the front with an earring-like zip pull. Simple but still a conversation-starting piece.
